 Turns out smoky overcast skies are great for photography!

Years ago my son gifted me with a cedar planter box.  It has four legs, a deep bed and measures 3 ft x 4 ft.  Allows me to plant flowers standing up.  Last year ... nothing because of COVID.  Couldn't even get to the nurseries.  

But this year, OH MY, flowers galore!  The heat we've been experiencing has been a good thing for flower~growing.

 Never have I been able to grow sweet potato vine so lush and thick.

and this is the first book I'm reading.  It's an autobiography authored by the husband of an old friend.  She and I were school mates from kindergarten all the way to graduation.

While planning a banner for my husband's 80th birthday celebration, I looked to Pinterest for ideas . . .

So much inspiration on that wonderful site that Dawn and I couldn't wait to get started.  Between us, we had nearly all the fabric and extras we needed to complete the pennant~shaped pieces . . . sewed up 10 of the 14 we'll need.  

So much fun.  I will be sharing the finished bunting?, banner?, pennant? with you when its finished and hanging under the upper deck of our home!

Projects

It's what I do to get through the long winters.  This past week I made up two signs to put in my etsy shop . . .

This one was a suggestion (and a possible sale) from an etsy shopper

and this one was a come~along.  Might as well make two of them as long as I was going to get decoupage sticky fingers, and I had the "Bath" stencil cut.

Next project will have to do with Valentine's Day so the wheels are turning.  Hmmmm . . . maybe a banner?

It's apple time again in Washington State repost

Fall, in my little world, brings out the produce that farmers and orchardists have cultivated all summer long.

I especially savor the freshly harvested apples that are in abundance at this time of year.  Just down the road is the spot where we pick up the best apples in the whole wide world.  Right off the trees, bagged up and ready to grab and go.

 Now to choose from a great variety of bagged apples.  My favorites ... Macs and Fujis!

     you are "on your honor" when it comes to paying for them at this little building across the driveway

butterfly enticement

In the hopes of enticing butterflies to my garden, I painted this sign and intend to hang it where they can't miss it .   .   .  close to my butterfly bush!

As you can see, there are not many varieties of butterflies in this area.  The occasional shy Morning Cloak will come by at times.  I'm hoping the sign may bring some more unusual species for me to photograph.
